Uniforms

Saturday, September 15 Uniform Fitting Information

Students will have issued to them a ‘concert black’ uniform. These uniforms have been purchased by the Booster Club over a number of years of fund-raising and should be treated with the utmost respect. Unlike almost every other choir program I know, our uniforms are each hand sewn.  It is the responsibility of the student to keep up with all parts of the uniform at all times. The uniforms consist of a tux vest, tux shirt and pants for the boys, and a full length dress along with a strand of pearls for the girls. (Pearls are issued at the event.) Unfiroms will be issued in a black nylon garment bag.  The boys will provide black dress shoes and black socks. The girls will provide black hose (knee hi’s are acceptable), black dress shoes (closed-toed and with a low or no heel) and black bras.

We need your help in keeping these uniforms in top condition for years to come, so here are a few notes:

  •  There should be no alterations done to the uniforms, dresses or pants. (Boosters will hem and alter).
  • Dresses, pearls, tux vest, tux shirts, bow ties, and pants are and will remain Property of LJI Choir.
  • Uniforms will be clean when they are issued. If they should require cleaning during the course of the year they should be Dry-Cleaned Only.

  • When these uniforms are returned, they need to be returned dry-cleaned and returned with all pieces in the plastic dry-cleaning bag with the receipt attached.

  • Please protect the uniform by wearing deodorant

  • Uniforms are to be returned by Friday, April 4, 2008. (Records will not be cleared until the uniform is returned).

A $15.00 maintenance fee will be charged. This money is used to hire a professional seamstress to do all the necessary alterations.  It is also used to clean or replace uniforms that are damaged.  If a uniform is lost or damaged the cost to replace it will be $75.00.  Garment bags are $10.00.

Please note that any additional jewelry is not part of the uniform, so let’s leave these items at home (watches, earrings, necklaces, etc.). Uniformity, when going to a contest, is a factor in the judging.

There is a choir t-shirt that the LJI Choir Boosters sell that we wear when we travel and when we sing at informal concerts. This is also a great way to promote our organization, to show the pride we have here at LJI.
